Meet the tutor - Seth Apter - October 2019
I am a mixed media artist, instructor, author and designer from New York City. My artwork has been exhibited in multiple exhibitions and can be found in numerous books and national magazines. I have published two books, The Pulse of Mixed Media and The Mixed-Media Artist, and eight mixed-media workshop videos/DVDs with North Light Media. I am an instructor at Pratt Institute in NYC and my live workshops have been held throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and the UK. I design product lines with Impression Obsession, StencilGirl Products, PaperArtsy, and Emerald Creek Craft Supplies.
Meet the Tutor - Kelly Klapstein -Nov/Dec 2019
Kelly Klapstein, the author of The Art of Brush Lettering, is an artist who is passionate about sharing her love of letters and enjoys teaching workshops around the world, helping people relax and learn the techniques of calligraphy and hand lettering. Kelly is well-known for her calming, methodical teaching style and has developed her own brand of "Kelly Creates" lettering products with American Crafts. When I picked up a brush pen for the first time a few years ago, I never imagined it would take me on an incredible artistic journey. Drawing letters has become a meditation for me. When I sit down with a pen and paper, I feel a calm and joy that remains with me throughout the day. Calligraphy has become a way I share peace and love in the world, by teaching workshops and producing short videos that many people find calming to watch. I live in northern Canada with my family and dog Finn, who is usually chewing my pens and sitting in my chair. When I’m not traveling and teaching workshops around the world, I am happily working from home, drinking tea, going for walks, and playing with watercolour paints. I hope my lettering products inspire your creativity
